OUR TEAM

What is Critical Paths?

Critical Paths is a set of resources that was created by ten graduates who have recently entered the UK’s nuclear industry and founded inNUvate Ltd. We all believe that nuclear power (alongside renewable energy) must play an important role in providing us with a secure energy supply in the future, and in fighting climate change.

The industry needs more enthusiastic young people to help generate this energy and solve its unique challenges. Through the resources that make up Critical Paths, we hope to show that the nuclear industry can offer an exciting, rewarding and long-term career to anyone! We hope to help people understand the nuclear industry better and to point out some common misconceptions.

Hopefully you find our resources helpful. If you use our resources and would like to offer any feedback, or have any questions, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch. Together, we can power a new generation.

Our Key Messages

1. A secure energy supply is vital for us to live our lives the way that we want to. Nuclear power can provide us with a plentiful and reliable supply of electricity.

2. Climate change is real, man-made, and will affect all of us if we don't do something about it.

3. The UK is a nuclear expert and is committed to having a safe, environmentally responsible nuclear industry.

4. The nuclear industry offers lots of interesting, challenging work at all levels and can offer a job for life.

5. Radiation is natural and everywhere; we understand how to control its effects.

nucleargraduates

We are all proud to be part of the nucleargraduates scheme. nucleargraduates is the most comprehensive graduate scheme the nuclear industry has ever seen.  It is sponsored by Rolls-Royce, The Environment Agency, Sellafield Ltd, Magnox Ltd, The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR), Low Level Waste Repository Ltd, Radioactive Waste Management Ltd, International Nuclear Services, Jacobs and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and it has strong industry support from over 20 stakeholder organisations.  nucleargraduates' sponsors cover all corners of the nuclear industry from defence and new build through to power generation and decommissioning.

Throughout the two year programme graduates work with their dedicated sponsor to gain experience across the industry. Find out more about the nucleargraduates scheme by visiting its website here.

inNUvate Ltd.

inNUvate Ltd. is a small not for profit business focused on connecting with those that will have the greatest influence on the nuclear industry in coming years – secondary school pupils.

The two year nucleargraduates programme gives graduates the opportunity to establish a small to medium enterprise (SME) alongside completing various secondments at companies across the nuclear industry.

As a group of ten graduates on this scheme, we, inNUvate Ltd., are passionate about promoting nuclear energy as a tool for sustainable development and about raising awareness and understanding of the nuclear industry in the public. To achieve this, we have set up inNUvate Ltd.

It is widely recognised that the UK nuclear industry is facing a skills shortage and with there being a rise in the amount of work available, this is a serious problem. A recent NIA survey found that although 32% of young people were open to working in the industry, almost half don’t believe that they are studying a relevant subject and 14% have never heard about career options in the industry[1].

Through our business we hope to combat this issue and raise awareness of the opportunities for all within the nuclear industry.

inNUvate Ltd. is a not for profit organisation and is proud to be supporting the Lightyear Foundation.
